Accident Update

PROFESSOR HAS HAD A CAR ACCIDENT, so Quiz #2, planned for last week, has to be deferred again. Please note where we have got to in this course:

WE HAVE COMPLETED UNIT 13: Quiz no 2 will go up to the end of unit 13. Check the Reviews link, above.

Please note also that from unit 16 onwards, the ideas will now start going around again as they get taken up by different societies and turned to different uses. So use this accident interim to get to UNDERSTAND those groups of ideas. And check the following links on Cave Painting too:

The Cave of Lascaux

One of the greatest painted caves of all time, and a stupendous site. Give youself time, and ENJOY the special effects. These are among the earliest works of art made by creatures we recognize as human beings. Do they work in a similar way to the Egyptians, Greeks, Scyths, Celts, Minoans, Etruscans? By the way, the Lascaux site likes to trap you inside. Just click on "syllabus" in the red navigation bar at the top to call back this page.
Venus Figurine
Your book shows you the Venus of Willendorf - unquestionably the finest of all, but this is an interesting one from Russia, with links to several others. Hundreds of these figures survive. Hundreds.
Now click on the Art History Browser Link (in the red navigation bar to your left) and check out the other Prehistoric sections - with stunning images of prehistoric art from all over the world, including the Scyths, Celts, Etruscans ... When I get back, you are going to KNOW what this stuff is like! Now return to the syllabus. We are continuing from unit 15.

Questions? . I'm back home now.
