Brazier Nativity, Detail of East Window, St Peter Mancroft Church,
Norwich, UK
This is from the East Window in St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich. It shows the Nativity in typical Medieval fashion. Medieval artists never failed to show that Joseph was not at all sure he hadn't been made a fool of, and another traditional part of Medieval nativities are the midwives who just happened by. Unusually, here, one of the midwives warms the baby's wrap in front of a brazier. Enjoy also the enthusiastic musicians.

Presentation to the Shepherds, Detail
of East Window, St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich, UK

On the right is another detail of the East Window. In this view, the shepherds have arrived and the Virgin shows the child to them. Notice her beautiful beadspread, which in this view has its correct blue and green colours. This was produced by the use of silverstain on blue glass.
